Breakthrough Advances in Industrial Automation
B&R, a pioneer in the field of automation, is proud to introduce its new Hypervisor for its automation systems. This software allows Windows or Linux to run alongside B&R’s real-time operating system, enabling the combination of a controller and HMI computer on a single device.
Key Features:
With the Hypervisor, an industrial PC can be used as an edge controller, both controlling and transmitting pre-processed data to higher-level systems in the cloud via OPC UA. This optimizes production processes and enhances monitoring capabilities.
The Hypervisor provides virtual network connectivity, allowing applications to exchange data between operating systems. Similar to a standard Ethernet interface, this is achieved using standard network protocols. Instead of using cables, a dedicated memory area is allocated, which is not assigned to any operating system, enhancing data transmission efficiency.
Maximizing Flexibility:
Users can configure the Hypervisor and allocate hardware resources within the B&R Automation Studio development environment. Configurations are defined separately for each system, providing maximum flexibility in resource utilization. Unlike previous parallel solutions that were limited to specific Windows versions, B&R’s Hypervisor is completely independent of the operating system being used.
Key Advantages:
B&R is an innovative automation company headquartered in Austria with offices around the world. On July 6, 2017, B&R became a business unit of the ABB Group. As a global leader in industrial automation, B&R combines cutting-edge technology with modern engineering to provide customers in nearly every industry with complete solutions for machine and factory automation, motion control, HMI, and integrated safety technology. With Industrial IoT communication standards like OPC UA, POWERLINK, and openSAFETY, as well as the powerful Automation Studio development environment, B&R continuously redefines the future of automation engineering. The spirit of innovation keeps B&R at the forefront of industrial automation, driven by a commitment to simplify processes and exceed customer expectations.
